Transfer orders out for seven top police officers in Bangkok

Seven high-ranking police officers in the capital have been slapped with transfer orders in the wake of an online-gambling scandal.
The transfers of Metropolitan Police Division 5 chief Pol Maj-General Chawalit Prasopsin and his deputy Pol Colonel Jak Jittitham went into effect Tuesday. Under the order, both have now been given inactive posts at the Metropolitan Police Bureau.
The bureau’s chief Pol Lt-General Sriwara Rangsipramanakul issued their transfer orders after three South Koreans were arrested on Monday at a condo in Phra Khanong area, which is under their jurisdiction, for allegedly running an online gambling operation.
“The officers will also face investigation,” Sriwara said Tuesday, adding that he had also firmly instructed officers under his supervision to never engage in gambling.
