Prayut praises Thai athletes

Government Deputy Spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Sunday that that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has been closely monitoring the on-going SEA Games competition.

The PM also praised the Thai athletes delegation to perform well in the biennial sporting event, especially Sunday morning when a Thai women’s runner clinched gold in the full 42.195km marathon, the sport which badly required strength and determination.

“The prime minister thanked all the Thai athletes who brought fame and great pride to the country and would like Thai people from all walks of life to help boost spirit to staff coaches and team staff because they are working the thankless job and are the real people behind the athletes’ success,” Sansern said.

Sansern said Prayut is due to visit Singapore between June 11 and 12 and call on the Singapore’s Prime Minister. At that time, Thai athletes are contesting the SEA Games in several disciplines including speak takraw and volleyball and Gen Prayut, should his time can be suitably managed, has initially planned to visit the Thai athletes and watch them compete in some sporting events.
