Energy minister says petrol prices cannot be further lowered

Energy Minister Narongchai Akrasanee said petrol prices could not be further lowered because the retail price must take the cost of ethanol into account.

He said the current price of ethanol is high and the use of ethanol to make gasohol petrol was regarded as a measure to help farmers. Narongchai was responding to criticism by Democrat Deputy leader Kiat Sittheeamorn who said Thai oil prices were higher than the real pries in the global markets.
