Difference in work methods blamed for stall at ministry

Work at the Public Health Ministry was affected because the methods employed by permanent secretary Dr Narong Sahametapat did not match those of minister Rajata Rajatanavin, Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Yuthavong explained yesterday.

This was learned in an investigation looking in Narong’s alleged failure to respond to the government’s and the minister’s policies.
Yongyuth said he was still awaiting the result of an investigation led by the Merit System Protection Commission in response to Narong’s appeal over an “unfair” transfer to the Office of the Prime Minister and another probe related to the work of the National Health Security Office. Once a conclusion is made, the final result will be proposed to the prime minister for consideration soon, he added.
Former permanent secretary to Public Health Ministry, Dr Wanlop Thainua, said detailed findings of this probe against Narong should be shown to the public and if the accusation is deemed groundless, then Narong should be reinstated at the ministry. Narong is scheduled to retire in three months anyway.
