BOT governor race concluded in 3 weeks

Finance Minister Sommai Phasee said Wednesday that the Bank of Thailand governor selection should be concluded in three weeks.
All the five candidates presented their visions to the selection committee yesterday. Two names will be submitted for Sommai's consideration.
Sommai said that the committee has not yet submitted the nominations. He said he would spend three weeks considering the matter.
He noted that age does not matter as long as he is knowledgeable, responsive to situations and independent. He also praised that the outgoing governor, Prasarn Trairatvorakul, has all the required qualifications.
By law, the new governor must be named at least 90 days before the incumbent governor's term will end. Prasarn's term is through the end of September.
