Prayut denies planning to abolish free healthcare to save money for buying submarines

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Sunday denied that his government planned to abolish the free universal healthcare programme so that it would have money for buying three submarines.

Upon returning from Japan, Prayut said the proposed procurement has nothing to do with the universal healthcare because it has been studied for years.
He said the government did not plan to discontinue the healthcare programme but the government simply did not have enough money to expand the health services.
