Two patients with high fever and diarrhoea were admitted to the hospital on Tuesday and were placed under close medical monitoring after reporting they had met and shared a meal with a friend who has been working in South Korea.
Doctor Chotima Sornsiriwong of Rayong Hospital said one of the patient was found to have an influenza while the second patient had no symptom of MERS but was still under close watch.
Also on Wednesday, Public Health Minister Rajata Rajatanavin insisted that Thailand has been free from MERS for two weeks.
Rajata said rumours that a patient in Rayong had died of MERS were totally unfounded.
