Charter to stipulate that NLA and Cabinet carry on until they are replaced

The Constitution Drafting Committee has resolved to maintain an original version of the provisional chapter that stipulates that the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) and the Cabinet carry out their duties until they are replaced.

CDC member Jade Donavanik said the CDC decided that the NLA should continue its term until the new Senate replaces it.
The NLA would have to deliberate the charter’s organic laws and other necessary legislation.
He said it was likely that the CDC would have to continue carrying out its duty and end its term at the same time as the NLA instead of ending its term when the new Parliament convenes its first session. This is because the CDC would have to work on drafting the charter organic laws and present them to the NLA for approval.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his Cabinet would carry out their duties until the new Cabinet replaces them, Jade said.
The CDC will this week complete drafting other topics in the provisional chapter such as commissions of organisations established under the charter and other important legislation.
Next week, the CDC will decide on the make-up of Senators.
