Use of 'sin tax' to be probed

DEPUTY Prime Minister Yongyuth Yutthawong said Monday he had backed a watchdog committee's decision to investigate the funding of three public organisations that get money from the "sin tax" on alcohol and cigarettes.

Yongyuth was referring to the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (Thai Health), Thai Public Broadcasting Service and the National Sport Development Funding Office, which get full use of funds from the “sin tax”, which do not go through the bureaucracy.
