Watana in 2nd bid to overturn NCPO ban on overseas travel

PHEU Thai Party member Watana Muangsook, a former minister for social development and human security, has filed an appeal with the Supreme Administrative Court, asking it to accept a petition against the junta's ban on 155 people - including himself - fro

Watana’s move came after the Central Administrative Court turned down his petition to have the ban lifted, which was filed against the head of the National Council for Peace and Order, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.
The NCPO issued the order banning the 155 from leaving the country last year.
Narinpong Jinaphak, Watana’s lawyer, claimed that the ban violated citizenship rights and human rights based on international norms.
“We want to see a clear protocol from the NCPO. And more importantly, it should not violate human rights. We urge the NCPO to equally ‘return happiness’ to every person,” Narinpong said.
Watana previously said he wanted to travel overseas to visit his children studying abroad and that the trip had nothing to do with politics.
The Central Administrative Court said all orders from the NCPO under the interim charter are legitimate and would be used as the reason for turning down his petition.
