Prayut promises major changes to Cabinet

The upcoming Cabinet reshuffle is expected to be a major one as Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said yesterday that there would be changes in all ministries.

He also said new people would be joining the Cabinet, and some ministers’ portfolios might be switched.
“I will change ministers as appropriate, and every change will definitely affect other posts. Some outsiders will be coming in, some will have to leave and some will be swapped,” Prayut said.
This government started working in September last year, and the prime minister earlier said he would shuffle his Cabinet once his military-led administration completed a year.
He said he was ready to submit the new list for royal endorsement, but had to wait until the outsiders had accepted their posts and the current ministers had accepted their removal.
However, Prayut denied reports that high-profile individuals, such as former foreign ministers Surakiat Sathirathai and Surin Pitsuwan and outgoing Bank of Thailand governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul, had been invited to join his Cabinet.
“Are you crazy?” he responded, when asked about Prasarn.
