Pop star Shakira to voice character in 2016 Disney animated film
Los Angeles (dpa) - Colombian singer Shakira will voice a pop star in Disney's animated film Zootopia, due out next year.
Shakira will voice the character Gazelle and perform a new original song for the movie entitled Try Everything.
It will be the first time the Grammy Award winner will do a voice role for an animated film, according to TheWrap.com.
The script, by Jarad Bush, is set in a modern mammal metropolis that has various neighbourhoods such as ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundra town.
The plot revolves around Judy Hopps, a parking metre attendant with dreams of being a police officer.
When a mystery is discovered, Hopps forges an unlikely friendship with a fast-talking scam-artist fox to solve it.
The project is being directed by Byron Howard, who directed Tangled, and Rich Moore, who directed Wreck-it Ralph. Bush is co-director.
The movie's release date is March 4, 2016.
