US embassy advises Americans to avoid Ratchaprasong

The US embassy Tuesday night issued an urgent message to advise American citizens to avoid Ratchaprasong Intersection and to monitor the local media.

"US Embassy personnel are liaising closely with local authorities to gather information. US citizens are advised to avoid the area and monitor local media for updates," the statement from the embassy said.
"US citizens who travel to or reside in Thailand are strongly advised to enroll in the State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) https://step.state.gov/step/. US citizens without Internet access may enroll directly with the nearest US embassy or consulate."
