Charter rejection dampens stock market

Opening lower today, the Stock Exchange of Thailand managed to stay in the positive territory with a slight gain of 0.05 per cent at 3.18pm.

The index rose 0.64 points to 1,371.39 points, on thin turnover of Bt18 billion.
Tisco Securities said in a note that the index could move in the range of 1,355-1,380 points today. Negative factors today included the rejection of the draft charter yesterday, while US and Chinese economic developments remained key external factors. US job growth in August was lower than expected while concerns on China's economic slowdown continue.
