The key topics raised in the meeting included exchanges in all areas of the subject of journalism, such as a joint syllabus and procedure for cross-country internship placements and a boot camp for Asian journalism students.
The highlight of the AMS Conference on Media and Society, held under the theme of “Media and Good Governance”, is a keynote address by Suthichai Yoon, adviser to the Nation Multimedia Group editorial board, on the “Relevance of Media in Good Governance.”
Participants include Ravi Kumar from Statesman Print School of Journalism, India; Luz V Rimban from Ateneo de Manila University; La Wun Shwe Sin Wut Ye from Myanmar Institute of Theology’s Liberal Arts Programme; Som Ratana from Royal University of Phnom Penh’s Department of Media and Communication; Masato Kajimoto from University of Hong Kong’s Journalism and Media Studies Centre; Nguyen Son Minh from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam; Angelina Choy from Singapore Press Holdings; Pong-in Rakariyatham, president of Nation University; and Cheevin Soonsatham also from Nation University.
Also taking part were Torben Stephan, director of KAS Media Programme Asia; Violet B Valdez, AMS Coordinator; and Pana Janviroj, executive director of Asia News Network.
