VICE RECTOR of Thammasat University Nakharin Mektrairat was picked by a selection panel yesterday to take a judge's post in the Constitutional Court, replacing retiring judge Chalermpol Ek-uru.

Nakharin, who is a ex-member of the now-defunct Constitution Drafting Committee, received two-thirds of the votes from the panel, made up of Supreme Court president Direk Ingkaninan, National Legis-lative Assembly president Pornpetch Wichitchonchai, and head auditor general Chaisit Trachutham.
A source said that one vote went to Wittaya Panich-pong, an ex-Pattani governor. There were 10 candidates for the post. The panel will now submit his name to the Parliament president, who will forward his name to Parliament for endorsement.
