Govt vows actions against all "single gateway" attackers

All involved in the DDoS (denial of service) attack against government websites would face legal actions, said Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd.

"This action is illegal and it leaves officers the traces to find culprits. Actions will be taken against all," he said. Citing several articles in the Computer Crime Act, he urged Thai Internet users not to take part in the campaign.
Last month, a mob tried to flood some government websites with overwhelming traffic, to express their dissatisfaction over the planned "single Internet gateway".
Sansern noted that the issue was discussed at the Cabinet meeting today. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha insisted that he had never told relevant agencies to proceed with the proposal. The single gateway was just an option proposed during a recent Cabinet meeting, which must be studied for its advantage and disadvantages like other options.
