Suu Kyi told her new MPs at the Royal Rose Restaurant in Yangon yesterday that the garbage collection service would start in Kawhmu Township, Yangon Region, where she won her seat, according to Dr Thet Thet Khaing, who won a Lower House seat in Dagon Township.
Thet Thet Khiang reported that Suu Kyi told them all to get involved with the new service and ensure the whole township was clean and the service was working effectively.
If an MP could not keep their constituency clean, no one could, she told the gathering.
Mi Kun Chan, the new MP for the Lower House in Paung Township, Mon State, said: “The move is likely to start in the next two or three weeks. We don't know how many days we will work yet."
Aye Mya Mya Myo and non-NLD members have started collecting the garbage in Kyauktan Township.
“I have been criticised for collecting garbage. Some said it is not my business and I should be dealing with bigger issues. Garbage is one of the most important issues in the country. I hope the people will cooperate,” Aye Mya Mya Myo said.
