He added that police were confident the fugitives would soon be recaptured and brought home to face punishment.
The three fugitives are Pol Colonel Pairoj Rojanaka-chorn, Pol Lt-Colonel Thammawat Hirunya-lekha and Maj-General Suchart Prommai.
As for Anti-Human Trafficking Division’s deputy superintendent Pol Lt-Colonel Thanabat Prasertwit, Dechnarong said that since Thanabat’s supervisors had not yet issued a transfer order for him, they might be considering whether to suspend or dismiss him from civil service first. The Bangkok Military Court issued an arrest warrant for Thanabat on Tuesday,
Police will also check on Thanabat’s whereabouts and see if he has also fled the country, he added. Dechnarong said police investigators had found evidence suggesting that Thanabat had allegedly conspired with late Pol Major Prakom Warunprapa to seek bribes over the making of souvenirs for a Royal biking event in August.
Meanwhile, Dechnarong declined to comment about whether the court will issue an arrest warrant for a retired police major-general over suspicions of being involved in Pakrom’s alleged setting up of an illegal radio station on Baiyoke II Building in Bangkok’s Ratchathewi district. He only said investigators were gathering evidence.
