The Democrat Party this month asked the National Council for Peace and Order to scrap its order banning political parties from holding activities so they can solve internal problems.
Prawit said the parties would not have to wait too long to see the ban lifted. “But all parties must be treated the same. And it all depends on the PM’s decision,” he said.
Prawit, who is also defence minister, denied he was considering setting up a political party, saying he and other junta members had no desire to be in politics. “[It’s] just a rumour. I have neither [the desire] in my mind nor [do] the PM and NCPO members. We don’t want power,” he said.
He said he wanted to work to return democracy and felt very tired.
