Bee delays Garuda Indonesia flight for four hours

Jakarta - A bee hiding in an airspeed measurement device caused a Garuda Indonesia flight to be delayed for four hours, the national airline said Wednesday.

The presence of the bee inside the pitot tube on Tuesday caused a disruption to the aircraft's electronic engine control, said Garuda spokesman Benny Butarbutar.
"The problem was discovered by the cockpit crew as they were undergoing the safety procedure before take-off," Butarbutar said.
"Because of safety concerns, we decided to delay the flight," he said. The flight departed from Kualanamu airport in Medan city four hours later than scheduled, he said.
