DSI looking at charges in Phichit gold mine case

PHICHIT GOLD mine case is on the waiting list to be accepted as special case by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).

Pol Lt Col Prawut Wongseenin, Consumer Protection and Environment Crime Bureau director, revealed Wednesday that the Phichit gold mine case was now in the consideration process and has to get approval from the DSI director first before starting the investigation.
On Tuesday, a group of affected people from the Akara Resource’s gold mine operation in Tap Khlo District filed a plea to the DSI to probe the expansion of the gold min?ing operation near the community, which they say has caused severe environmental and health impacts on the people.
The gold mine opposition group also claimed that the gold mine expansion went ahead before official permission was granted and the min?ing operation was still ongoing even with the issue still in the appeals court.
