'Ja New' captured by troops at Thammasat

Sirawit Serithiwat, better known as Ja (Sergeant) New was captured by eight troops in front of Thammasat University Rangsit campus late Wednesday night.
The troops arrived on two pick-up trucks and arrested Sirawit at 10:30 pm after he had dinner with friends.
The troops then took Sirawit to the Nimitr Mai police station at 3 am Thursday.
The military court issued arrest warrants against Sirawit and five other student activists on charge of violating the coup order that bans political gathering when he organised a trip to the Rajabhakti Park in Hua Hin in a protest against alleged irregularities. His group was stopped by the authorities at Ban Pong railway station.
