Political stability is key: WB economist

Thailand's political instability is what scares foreign investors the most, said Xavier Forneris, World Bank senior investment policy officer.

At a seminar hosted by Finance Ministry today, he said the instability, though downplayed by locals, is a big concern for investors as this will lead to lack of continuation in economic policies.
Meanwhile, Thailand's investment atmosphere is also tainted by corruption and poor infrastructure, he said.
He asserted that these pose bigger concerns to international investors than investment incentives. Other issues of concern are the shortage of skilled labour and low productivity.
