Slight increase in Lunar New Year spending: Survey

Spending in the upcoming Lunar New Year is expected to reach Bt52.56 billion, a 4 per cent increase from last year, according to a survey by the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Thirty two per cent of the 1,224 respondents expected the celebrations to be less joyous than last year, while 36.3 per cent anticipated more joyous atmosphere.
The survey demonstrated the respondents' concerns in goods prices as well as travelling cost during the celebration period. They urged the government tackle high cost of living, income gap, corruption and social division.
