Govt to wire 30,000 villages with broadband Internet by next year

The digital economy committee Monday agreed to speed up installation of broadband Internet to link 30,000 villages to the digital world, Information and Communication Technology Minister Uttama Savanayana said.
He said the committee agreed to have the broadband connection built for the 30,000 villages by next March next year. As part of the IT infrastructure development for the villages, the government would build 10,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots for them, the minister added.
