One troop killed, another injured in Narathiwat bombing

Insurgents detonated a roadside homemade bomb to ambush a patrol unit of six troops in Narathiwat Wednesday morning, fatally injuring one and severely hurting another.

Police said the attack occurred on a village road in Tanyong village in Tambon Bareh Tai in Bacho district at 8 am.
Police said two insurgents, who disguised themselves in women clothes, were pretending to milk rubber trees when six patrolling troops arrived at the scene on three motorcycles.
The insurgents detonated the bomb with a walkie-talkie and fled the scene on a motorcycle.
Private Suriya Changbutr was fatally injured and died at the Bacho hospital. Sgt Pongpithak Siripreechaphan was severely injured and was forwarded from the district hospital to the Narathiwat hospital.
