South Korea nuclear reactor shuts after part malfunction

Seoul - A nuclear reactor in South Korea was shut down Saturday after a reported technical glitch.

The Hanbit 1 reactor in Yeonggwang in the south-west stopped operating at 5:16 am (2016 GMT Friday) after a problem with a steam condensing device, Yonhap News Agency reported.

There was no sign of a radiation leak, the report quoted the plant's operator as saying.

Nuclear power supplies about a third of South Korea's energy.
