Universities hired as consultants for “Chao Phraya Landmark” roadway

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has signed a contract to take on King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang and Khon Kaen University as consultants for the “Chao Phraya Landmark” roadway and recreational area project from February 29.

Pattarut Tantranon, deputy city clerk, Thursday revealed BMA signed a contract to hire these institutes for a sum of Bt120 million. The consultants are to: conduct a detailed survey of the project area, a 7km-stretch along the river from Rama 7 Bridge to Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge (a total coverage area of 14kms); design the project while keeping in mind the community lifestyle and hydraulic impacts; and carry out an environmental impact assessment. They are also tasked to formulate a master plan for the development of the 57km-long Chao Phraya riverside area and study initial environmental impacts and conduct public relations to promote people’s participation in providing recommendations and in-depth interviews about related issues and the community’s needs.
