Expert meet on Chinese film globalisation

HONG KONG - Some 200 delegates from the world film industry will be joining China Daily Asia Leadership Roundtable Panel on “Opportunities from Globalisation of Chinese Film Industry” on March 16, 2016 at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre.

International film experts and executives will be speaking at the event which is part of FILMART. The event is co-hosted with Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
China’s film industry grossed more than 40 billion yuan (US$6.14 million) in 2015, for the first time with over 60 per cent coming from domestic production. The 2016 Chinese New Year period also witnessed a record increase in box office takings which reached 287 million yuan.
China’s box office takings are expected to reach 100 billion yuan in 2020, surpassing North America to become the world’s largest film market.
The rapid globalisation of China’s film industry has encouraged several strategic moves and saw co-investments taking place with Hollywood, the UK, India, Japan and Korea on content, intellectual property, talent, capital, technology and distribution channels.
