Zoos across Thailand were taking steps to cool their animals amid the hottest period of weather in almost 50 years.
"We are also hosing down the largest mammals including bears, chimpanzees and elephants," Dusit Zoo's media office said by phone.
Songkhla Zoo in southern Thailand has also taken preventative measures including bringing in a fire truck to hose down its tigers, according to the government's public relations department.
