Drug ring bust linked to Colonel Jalorbo relative
Three Chinese suspects and an alleged Thai accomplice were arrested on Friday in relation to a major seizure of drugs and cash in Bangkok that police believe is linked to the son-in-law of alleged Myanmar drug kingpin Colonel Jalorbo.
Seized were 48 kilograms of heroin, 13,000 ecstasy pills weighing 3.2kg, 1,000 new 9mm bullets and Bt4.9 million.
Pol Lt-General Rewat Klinkesorn, commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, told a press conference yesterday that a Chiang Mai man, Narutchai Rojanatheerasant, Taiwanese national Hsu Chang-Hung and Chinese nationals Bai Ya Peng and Rao Xiao Hu allegedly worked for a transnational drug ring that smuggled drugs into Taiwan and had links to Weera Meunjada, Jalorbo’s son-in-law.
He said Thai police had followed the network’s operations for a year before arresting Narutchai and Hsu at Soi Narathiwatratchanakarin 1 in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district.
He said police arrested the other two men on the Taiwanese-registered cargo ship Yang Ming at Bangkok Port’s Terminal 1 in Klong Toei district.
