Over 300kg of elephant tusks found at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Customs says

SOME 87 elephant tusks smuggled into Thailand from Kenya have been seized, Customs Department chief Kulit Sombatsiri said Tuesday.

The ivory, weighing 315 kilograms and allegedly worth Bt28 million, was found amid a cargo declared as uncut stone from Mozambique transported through Kenya to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The intended recipient was identified as a Guinean man named Sato Morie, who has already left Thailand after learning about the seizure.
