Ban Ki Moon dials President Htin Kyaw

YANGON - United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon called the office of President Htin Kyaw on the evening of April 5 to congratulate the new president on his new position and to pledge the UN’s continuing support for Myanmar.
The Secretary General said he has faith in the National League for Democracy’s civilian government and its figurehead Aung San Suu Kyi to achieve a fully democratic nation through the fulfillment of the people’s wishes by implementing policies aimed at national reconciliation as well as elevating standards of living.
President Htin Kyaw thanked the secretary general for the phone call and for the UN’s support. He said he would work with the UN to reach their shared objectives in Myanmar.
