New peak power demand

Thailand recorded a new peak power demand of 27,639.3 megawatts at 8.21pm on Wednesday, according to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.

The peak demand occurred at night chiefly because of demand from the residential and hotel sectors, driven by hot weather that reached 31.1 degrees Celsius, Egat said in a statement.
It beat the previous record made last summe at 27,345.8MW.
“Nevertheless, more records are expected this year. The highest usually occurs during an afternoon of a normal working day, driven by demand from industrial, service and residential sectors ,” it said.
