127 Thais evacuated to Fukuoka

A number of 127 Thais living in the southern island of Japan, Kumamoto, have been evacuated, according to the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo.

The embassy said on its Facebook page that the evacuees were safely transferred to the airport in Fukuoka and a shelter nearby.
Kumamoto Prefecture in the past few days experienced powerful earthquakes and aftershocks that killed at least 41.
Srisuda Wanapinyosak, a deputy governor at Tourism Authority of Thailand, said that the agency has dispatched local officers to the scene, working with the embassy. The officers have so far helped find return air tickets to Thailand for Thais travelling in Japan.
"Some seats will be available after Monday," she said. "Most of them now want to return home sooner."
Through its Hotline Centre 1672, TAT offers help to those in Thailand who want to contact their relatives in Japan. No request has been filed through the channel yet.
