Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said the prime minister thanked ICAO for its understanding and assistance to help Thailand address issues that led the agency to flag significant safety concerns.
Prayut told the ICAO director that the master plan is now in place to meet international standards, including the allocation of budget for inspector training.
The long-term plan calls for the strengthening of aviation regulatory agencies, to meet international safety standards as prescribed by ICAO. This will involve legal improvement, safety monitoring, licencing and personnel development.
Mishra thanked Thailand for permission for ICAO Asia Pacific office in the Kingdom. He said Thailand did not matter only to ICAO but also others, as Thailand is an air traffic hub and a centre in Southeast Asia.
