The 75 million-year-old Fossil Shell Beach (known in Thai as Susaan Hoi) in the Krabi’s Noppharatthara Beach-Phi Phi Islands National Park is being inspected for damage from ongoing coastal erosion.

Park protection unit head Plianprasop Khaonuan led a team of Department of Mineral Resources officials to inspect the two kilometre-long ancient beach in Tambon Sai Thai of Muang district Monday.
DMR fossil conservation unit head Thanyathon Thonarat said the initial probe found that layers of snail shells were damaged by strong waves particularly during the monsoon season.
