Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Monday he would not resign if the charter draft fails to pass the referendum.
His stance came after British Prime Minister David Cameron announced his resignation following the United Kingdom voting to exit the European Union.
Prayut said: “It’s a different story. I won’t quit. I set my own rules. He [Cameron] and me became the premier in different means. His country and ours have different problems.”
The referendum is set for August 7.
