Bt700-million road to be built on Koh Lanta

The Rural Roads Department will next year build 21-kilometre-long road on popular-tourist destination Koh Lanta in Krabi to boost tourism there.

Krabi Govrnor Pinij Boonlert said the construction of the road, which would cost Bt700 million, would begin next year.
He asid the Rural Roads Department had hired an advisor firm to study environment impact and to design the road. The governor said the project has been endorsed by the majority of the local people in two public hearings.
Pinij said the road would link the bridge linking Lanta Noi and Lanta Yai islands and would be around 15-24 metres wide. It would be cut to the east of Lanta Yai island for about 21 kilometers long.
