The Metropolitan Police Bureau will deploy 8,000 police officers to guard polling stations in Bangkok on the referendum day on Sunday, the bureau chief said Thursday.
Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathaworn said each station would be manned by at least one police officer.
He said his bureau would also prepare rapid deployment teams that could be dispatched to any place in Bangkok if an untoward incident breaks out.
