Under the law, Banyin can petition against the freezing of his assets by submitting evidence to AMLO on how it had caused damage to him within 30 days after the order was promulgated in the Royal Gazette.
Banyin – a former deputy commerce minister – is now facing several charges related to the death and share deals of late construction tycoon Chuwong Saetang.
Last year, Chuwong was found dead in Banyin’s car after the two finished a game of golf. Initially, it appeared as if the car had slammed into a tree, but emerging evidence pointed to possible foul play. Chuwong’s family later learned that Banyin and some accomplices had transferred hundreds of millions of baht worth of Chuwong’s shares. Investigators believe the share manipulation pointed to the fact that Banyin might have had a motivation to kill Chuwong.
