NLA approves 30-seat increase

National Legislative Assembly (NLA) Friday voted unanimously to approve the regime-proposed amendment of the 2014 interim Constitution to allow 30 additional personnels to sit in the Assembly.

The motion was proposed by the Cabinet and the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to allow the addition of seats in the NLA from currently 220 to up to 250 in order to expedite the law deliberation.
Representing the Cabinet and the NCPO, Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said that the authorities would like the NLA’s work to be hastened as the load would increase after the constitution draft is promulgated. Hence, more hands should be added to the Assembly.
