Army joins hunt for stolen milk truck amid bomb fears

Commander of the Fourth Army Region, Lt-Gen Wiwat Pathompak, has ordered officers to hunt for a milk-delivery pickup truck hijacked by six armed men at a school in Pattani's Sai Buri district on Tuesday afternoon, for fear it might be used for a car bomb

Colonel Yutthanam Petchmuang, deputy spokesman for the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4's Forward Command, said security officers suspected that the truck theft from the front of Ban Chamao Samton School could be a related to general crime, in which case police would follow up that lead.
However, if it was established that the motive was bomb-making to create unrest, the Pattani Special Task Force Unit would take urgent action.
The unit commander called a meeting on Tuesday evening to set up measures to locate the Isuzu truck as well as beef up security in the area. Members of the public were also urged to look for the truck, which belongs to Abdul-baka Malaya and has a Pattani-registered licence plate number Bor Thor 1426.
