THAI aims to become regional maintenace hub

Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) is set to finalise a joint investment on aircraft maintenance project in Rayong province in the next few months, aiming to be a regional maintenance hub.

"The company is hiring a consultant team to work on budget assessment for the project and expected to finalise it within next 2-3 months," Areepong Bhoocha-oom, chairman of the board of directors said on Thursday.
He added that the national airline would join venture with partners to build the new aircraft maintenance centre at U-Tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport in Ban Chang District, Rayong province. 
Of the joint investment, Areepong said THAI would seek qualified partners which are keen in aviation and aircraft maintenance.
"THAI aims to build the new maintenance centre that able to serve customers so airlines will not fly a long way to get maintainable. The centre will also serve clients throughout the region," he said.
