THAI insists not overcharge govt for Prawit's charter flight

Thai Airways International insisted Monday that the cost of its chartered flight for Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan and his entourage to a security conference in Hawaii was normal.

THAI added in its press statement issued Monday night that the cost of Bt21 million for the Hawaii trip was an estimated cost for informing the PM's Secretariat as requested.
He said THAI has yet to to collect the real expense from the PM's Secretariat later.
The national airline said since it was the right policy for the government to charter a flight for a trip to the destination that has no direct flight from Bangkok when government officials have to travel in a large group.
THAI said since the flight was a charter flight, it was normal that the cost had to be higher than normal flights.
