Seven provinces warned of possible flooding

People living along the Chao Phraya River downstream from the Chao Phraya dam in Chainat were Sunday warned of possible flooding as the dam had to release more water following heavy downpours upstream.

Government Spokesman Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the government had instructed the governors of Chainat, Uthai Thani, Singburi, Angthong, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri, and Ayutthaya to warn their people to be on alert as the Chao Phraya could burst the banks.
He said companies, shops, floating restaurants and households along the river should move their valuables upstairs.
He said the governors were also instructed to speed up the flood embankments in their provinces.
