The tremors began at midnight on Friday and continued into Saturday, Ansa news agency reported citing the National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV).
Some 4,000 people were left homeless for a third night after Wednesday's 5.4- and 5.9-magnitude earthquakes, with locals seeking emergency shelter in sports halls, hotels and the sleeping compartment of a train, according to the report.
The Wednesday tremors, which were felt in Rome as well as hundreds of kilometres away, had their epicentres about 30 kilometres north of Amatrice, the flashpoint of the 6-magnitude earthquake that struck on August 24, killing 298 people.
