Prayut signs charter draft, ready for sending for royal assent

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha Tuesday said that he had signed his name to endorse the charter draft for sending it for royal assent, the final step to be taken for the draft’s promulgation.

Prayut said at his weekly press briefing that the endorsement by the new King, would need no more than 90 days.
The government has received the draft from the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) after the it amended the preamble of the draft following the passing of His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Although the throne is currently vacant with former Privy Council president Gen Prem Tinsulanonda as Regent pro tempore, Prayut said last month that the charter draft will be signed by the new King.
