One drug suspect was killed and two accomplices were wounded after a gang fled from a road checkpoint in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district and police gave chase, resulting to a gunfight early Saturday morning, police alleged.
Police alleged they seized 480,000 “yaba” pills – a methamphetamine drug – in four backpacks from the gang’s pick-up truck following the 2.45am incident, which started at the checkpoint on Doi Tung-Huai Hong Khrai Road.
